We were privileged on Friday 18th January to host a visit to Ludlow Hospital by The High Sheriff of Shropshire, Rhoderick Swire DL. A chance meeting when he expressed a wish to see the work of The League of Friends enabled us to put together a formal and comprehensive visit when he could meet with The League Committee to see all the purchases we had made in recent years and to meet also the wonderful NHS staff.
Starting with the outpatients department we were able to show the various diagnostic equipments, such as the ultrasound scanner, the soundproof audiology suite, retinopathy camera and the various elements of Ophthalmology equipment that gives us the opportunity to provide the best (and even better!) equipment normally provided at the main hospitals. We highlighted the capacity of the ultrasound scanner to easily cope with antenatal scans if Telford can ever be persuaded to use it at Ludlow, visited the new x-ray and Minor Injuries Unit, met the Dialysis patients and then enjoyed tea and cakes whilst the My Dementia equipment was ably demonstrated and Elinor Phillips serenaded us all with her wonderful Welsh voice!
A brilliant event which highlighted The League and NHS working together to improve care close to home and the patient experience
